A note regarding import taxes/duties for our EU-based customers
As of 1st January 2021 the United Kingdom is no longer a member of the European Union. This means that customers ordering from inside the EU will no longer be required to pay VAT on orders placed from us in the UK. However, EU customers may now be liable for import taxes or duties in the country of delivery. The regulations around the amount of import tax/duty payable may vary depending on the destination country. The responsibility for settling any outstanding import tax/duty lies with the importer i.e. the customer, and it is the customers responsibility to avail themselves of any local regulations regarding import taxes/duties prior to placing their order.
Placing your order
The part I am looking for isn't on your website. Do you have it?
All the parts that we offer are listed on our website. If the part you are looking for is not displayed on our website, it is very unlikely that we will have the part available.
Do you sell parts for vehicles other than the Morris Minor?
Due to the ‘parts-bin’ nature of production that was prevalent within BMC and British Leyland in the days of the Minor, it is of course true that many parts were shared between the various makes and models produced at the same time as the Minor. Unfortunately, we have no access to parts listings or catalogues for vehicles other than the Minor so we are unable to confirm fitment or compatibility of our parts with other models. If we have a part in stock that we know will fit another model, the product information page will state this specifically.
How can I pay for my order?
We accept all major credit and debit cards (Amex excluded) via our secure online payment system operated by Opayo (formerly SagePay). We accept payment via BACS for orders over £2000.00 (ex. VAT) by prior arrangement only. Orders paid via BACS will only be shipped once payment has cleared, any bank transfer fees are the responsibility of the buyer to cover. You can also pay by cheque by posting a cheque to us.
Do you offer discounts?
We offer free postage (to UK mainland only, excl. Highlands, Islands and NI) on all orders over £100 (excluding VAT) only when ordering via the website. We offer a 5% discount on orders £250 or over (excluding VAT) increasing to 7.5% when spending £750 or over (excluding VAT) and 10% when spending £1200 or over (excluding VAT). These discounts apply to completed website orders ONLY and do not apply to orders placed by telephone. Please note that we reserve the right to exclude certain products, such as complete chassis, from our web discount scheme.
I am VAT-registered. Do I have to pay VAT on my order?
If you have a valid VAT number, you can enter it in the specified field on the Checkout page of our website once you have finished building your order. Click on the button marked ‘Validate’ and if the VAT number provided is authorised the website will automatically remove any VAT from your order total. If you are not VAT-registered or do not have a valid VAT number then VAT must be paid on ALL orders being shipped within the UK. Regrettably, we must charge VAT on ALL orders delivered within the United Kingdom regardless of whether you are VAT registered or not.
Can I order by phone?
You are welcome to order by phone. However please note we are unable to offer any discounts on orders placed by telephone.
What is a Surcharge and how does it work?
A surcharge is an additional fee payable upon purchase of a reconditioned part. Due to the age of the Minor, many parts are no longer being manufactured and so to ensure replacements are available we have certain items professionally reconditioned. When you purchase a reconditioned part then you will need to send your old unit back to us. Once we receive the part we will inspect it to ensure it is fit to be reconditioned, providing it is then we refund the surcharge amount to the customer. Generally speaking, the part being exchanged will need to be of an identical type/spec to the reconditioned item being purchased i.e. If you are buying a 1098cc gearbox you would not be able to exchange a 948cc gearbox and claim the surcharge back. Any exceptions to this will be noted on the product info page of that particular product.
Example: Customer purchases a steering rack part no. STR101 online priced at £49.50 + VAT. The surcharge part no. STR101SC is automatically included at £150.00 + VAT making the total payable £199.50 (plus any applicable VAT and shipping). We dispatch the reconditioned rack to the customer who then sends us his/her old unit. Upon receipt of the old unit the surcharge of £150.00 + VAT is refunded electronically to the card used to place the original order.
Do you take back-orders?
Under no circumstances are we able to take back-orders on items that are not currently in stock. You can request an email notification to be sent to you when the item is back in stock by visiting the specific items product page.
Your checkout page says ‘No Delivery Method Available’ what should I do?
Some of the items we sell are very large or very heavy and will either require a bespoke shipping quotation at the point of order. If you see this message please call us on 01580 200203 to discuss.
Delivery of your order
How will my order be shipped?
The shipping method used to dispatch your order will depend on the volume and value of the order, as well as the destination country.
UK Orders: As a general rule, orders with a value of less than £80.00 (ex. VAT) or with a volumetric weight lower than 2kg will be sent via Royal Mail 1st Class post. Orders with a value greater than £80.00 (ex. VAT) or with a volumetric weight greater than 2kg will be sent via Parcel Force or an equivalent courier service depending on network availability at the time of shipping. Tracking is only available on Courier orders. Please be aware that neither of these services guarantee next day delivery.
Overseas orders: As a general rule, orders with a value of less than £80.00, or with a volumetric weight lower than 2kg will be sent via Royal Mail Airmail. The availability of tracking on this service is dependent on the destination country. Orders with a value greater than £80.00, or with a volumetric weight greater than 2kg will be sent via a courier. We operate using multiple courier services. The specific courier company used will be dependent on courier availability at the time of shipping. Tracking is usually available on these courier services.
Please note that these are general 'rules of thumb' and will not apply to all orders as we may be required to operate flexibly in order to maintain efficient dispatch of orders.
Will I need to sign for my order?
If your order is dispatched via courier then the delivery driver will require a signature upon delivery. All orders over the value of £80.00 ex. VAT will be sent via courier. Depending on their size/weight, some items under £80.00 ex. VAT will also be sent via courier at our discretion. Orders sent via Royal Mail will not need to be signed for. It is the buyers responsibility to ensure that there is someone available to sign for any orders sent via courier. Overseas buyers are also liable for any local import duties or taxes applicable in the destination country.
Can I collect my order from your premises?
You are welcome to collect orders by appointment from our premises in Stonegate, East Sussex. We are open for pre-arranged and ordered collections from 9.30am to 12.30pm Tuesday to Friday. Unfortunately, it is not possible to collect parts without them being ordered in advance as we no longer operate a parts counter.
My order has not yet arrived, what should I do?
If you have placed an order with us and are awaiting a delivery then please note the following;
Orders placed after 3PM on weekdays will not usually be dispatched until the following afternoon. Orders placed at any time on Saturdays and Sundays are not dispatched until late the following Monday afternoon (Tuesday following a bank holiday Monday).
Naturally we endeavour to dispatch all orders in a prompt fashion. However, it is inevitable that delays can sometimes occur that are beyond our control. 9 times out of 10 these delays are resolved quickly and deliveries are not impacted severely. With this in mind please allow the following amounts of time between ordering and querying deliveries:
UK Customers: (including NI and Isles): 3 working days.
EU Customers: 10 working days.
Rest of the world customers: 21 working days.
(Working Days = Mon-Fri)
We use Royal Mail 1st Class, Royal Mail Airmail and various major courier services to ship orders. The service used is determined by the physical volume, weight, value and destination of the order.
If these times have elapsed and you have not received your order then please contact us at esm@morrisminors.com stating your name, address and order reference number (WEBxxxxx).
What is your returns policy?
For information on our returns and refund policy please see the 'Delivery & Returns' page listed at the bottom of the screen.
If an item is out of stock online can I still order it over the phone?
No. The website is linked directly to our stock control system. When an item is out of stock on the website it will also be out of stock for ordering by phone.
Do you deliver to my country?
We offer worldwide shipping. Once you have compiled your order, you can calculate accurate shipping costs to your location by visiting the 'Checkout' page. Please be aware that it is the buyers responsibility to settle any import duties or taxes applicable in their country.
What do you mean by "UK Mainland Shipping Only"?
Due to safety restrictions imposed by courier and postal services on certain items that could be considered hazardous, there are some items that we stock which cannot be shipped outside of the mainland United Kingdom. We classify the mainland as England, Scotland, Wales and the Isle of Wight only. Please note that Northern Ireland, the Channel Islands, the Scottish Islands and the Isle of Man are not classified as UK Mainland. On some of these items, we will also only be able to ship within the mainland UK via courier regardless of the size or weight of the item. Any items with shipping restrictions will note these restrictions in the product information.
Technical questions
What engine and gearbox oil does the Minor use?
The Morris Minor uses 20W50 mineral oil for both the engine and the gearbox. It is very important to only use the specified grade in the engine and gearbox of the Minor. The engine sump takes 3.7L (inc. filter) and the gearbox takes 1.3L.
How much anti-freeze does the Minor take?
The cooling system of a Morris Minor has a 5 litre capacity.
Can you tell when my car was made from the registration or chassis number?
Not specifically. We do not have access to the Morris Minor factory records so whilst we can take an educated guess as to roughly when your Minor was made, you'll need to contact British Motor Heritage for an exact date.
My car has been modified. Will you know which parts will fit?
If a car has been modified from its original specification (i.e an engine/gearbox change, brake conversion etc.) the only people who will know for sure which parts it uses will be the ones who did the work. We can tell you what *should* be there, but given the age of the vehicles and the interchangeability of parts between various models it may not be possible for us to confirm the correct parts when dealing with a modified car.
Other frequently asked questions
Can you quote for or discuss works on my vehicle?
For any enquiries relating to mechanical, body or restoration work please telephone the workshop directly on 01580 200062.
I have a question about a car you have for sale, can you help?
All of the vehicles we have for sale are looked after by our workshop. Please contact the workshop directly on 01580 200062 who will be happy to help with any enquiries.
I am looking for a specific nut/bolt/fixing for my car but it doesn’t seem to be listed, can you help?
As with many older vehicles, the Minor uses lots of different variations of screws, nuts, bolts, clips and even nails in some cases! More often than not a particular fixing has more than one use on a Minor. For example, the bolts which hold the water pump on are the same as those which hold the engine side cover plates on. For this reason, we tend to list fixings by size or type e.g. ‘2BA x ½” Countersunk screw” rather than “Tail lamp screw” or “Side screen frame screw”. By entering the size of the fixing into our search facility you are much more likely to find what you are looking for.
I have some second-hand Minor parts. Would you be interested in them?
Possibly. Some parts for the Minor are no longer produced new so we do sometimes purchase old stock in good condition. If you have some second-hand parts you no longer require then please email us at esm@morrisminors.com stating the parts you have and your contact details.
